Rochester Walk Now for Autism Raises Over $200,000
On Saturday, September 27, 1,800 people enjoyed the 6th annual Rochester Walk Now for Autism at Monroe Community College in Rochester, N.Y. The walkers, on more than 200 teams, raised over $200,000 – a 24% increase over the 2007 Walk.
Despite rainy weather which forced the Walk into the gymnasium, walkers ventured outside to enjoy bounce houses and The Talking School Bus. Children also enjoyed a sensory area, arts and crafts, and the antics of Gary the Happy Pirate. The Rochester Walkwelcomed back NBC10's Jennifer Johnson as the event's emcee. Other local luminaries in attendance included Scientific Advisory Board member Dr. Susan Hyman of the University of Rochester and J-Mac.
The Walk hosted a resource fair, which showcased 18 companies and organizations, including CARD, Clinical Associates of the Finger Lakes, New York State Association for Behavior Analysis, Upstate

“Aerotek Supports Autism” waves as they Walk Now for Autism. This team held a golf tournament and raised over $8,000 for the Rochester Walk.

While waiting outside the physical education complex to begin the loop around Monroe Community College, walkers enjoy the bounce house and talking school bus.
